2240/2250 Valve Modifications
Joe Whittaker

The valve can be a pain to get apart. It's lock-tited but also has an o-ring. When you get it out of the gun wrap it with a strip of rubber and clamp the main body in a vise. Be careful of the transfer port and the end seal for the 12gr. You'll be able to see where the halves go together. You may even need to put the screw that holds it in the gun into the valve so it can ride the edge of the vise to help keep it from turning. Then take a good pair of pliers and unscrew the halves where the end seal is. You may scar it up but as long as you don't crush it it will still work. There are no sealing surfaces on the outside. Once you get into it, there isn't much to it. My 2250 is full time bulk so I cut the punch pin off. If you want to use 12grs you can grind the pin flat on two sides for better flow.

The Phantom paintball gun spring kit springs can be used on the 2240 valve if you can still find them. You can still get the Maddman spring kit at various online paintball stores such as G3 Powered Paintball @ 10.00. Click here for the maddman spring kit or here to goto the G3 powered paintball site.

You can look at Home stores and auto stores for springs. I just take the orignal and squeeze them till I find one I like then I cut it to length and give it a try. I don't worry about putting lock-tite back on it, mine hold just fine.(get a spring that is close to the same diameter but it doesn't have to be exact) I'm looking forward to warmer weather, I want to see how much the liter spring gives me as pressure on the valve goes up. It may need a liter one at higher pressure, then I have to see if I'm gaining enough to justify the increase in gas usage. When I was playing with my Phantoms springs and adjustable hammer I had it to where I could play all day at one setting.

Message from Whitewolf: "CO2 tuning secrets"

Hi everyone.....Since Sumgunner posted up a few pics I sent him for the new site. I've been hit with a many a questions as to HOW DO I get 680 fps from a 14.5" barreled gun. Since some of the Gurus get less. Well guys if I gave you the exact parameters, where would the fun be. When you learn through some trail and error with a little guidance you gain more self esteem so to say for your accomplishments. Through out this site (Click here for forum) are a lot of key information as to tuning the 22xx series guns. Below I even given the exacts as to optimum probe length (Click here for info on Bolt probe lengthening) acheive the first steps of super tuning of Co2 powered airguns. Now if you search along through the site you will find all the stepping stones to tune a valve. I'll be more than happy to help you along but I won't out rightly tell you the exacts are.But I will give you all a great big hint. All Co2 valves that run a 90 degree port system resrict flow a change makes a big difference. The rest is all trial and error, sort of, and some will remain secrets. he he

Remember do your mods slowly and a little at a time, your chrony is your friend. Keep track of your data and you will see how the Co2 curve really works for you and against you. For those of you that don't totally understand what I have said your best to hang around and learn more, or send your guns to the pro's. Remember you are working with a highly energized fluid. Saftey is a key factor to your health and welfare.
